February is the month of love, and with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we want to help you fall in love with yourself. We spend so much time pouring our energy and affection into others, and it is important that we take the time to show ourselves a little love this time of year. That’s why the team at Artisan Beauté is offering $100 off lip fillers through the month of February when you book before Valentine’s Day!
When you think of Valentine’s Day, romantic gestures, a dozen red roses, a bottle of red, and kissable lips undoubtedly come to mind. Whether you are dressing up for a romantic night out on the town, dressing down for an intimate evening at home with your significant other, or romancing yourself with a luxurious dinner and cocktails at your favorite restaurant, let your lips be your favorite accessory.
Lip fillers can be a stunning way to enhance your natural beauty and unique lip shape. A little can go a long way in achieving plump, healthy, and hydrated-looking lips to help you fall in love with your look.
When it comes to lip fillers, there is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Your lip curvature, tissue, and desired results will all be factored into determining which filler, how much filler, placement, and injection technique are needed to give you the look you desire.
Many first-time lip filler clients are unsure of what they’re looking for or confused about what is possible with fillers. The below dimensions are a great place to start! Injecting lip filler will ultimately impact all of these factors, but knowing which of these dimensions is a priority based on your dream lips can help your provider determine the right product and injection technique for you. For a fully customized approach, we recommend a consultation appointment first before booking your lip filler appointment.
- Increased volume: Best for reducing lip wrinkles and fine lines
- Increased projection: The perfect pucker and pout
- Increased height: Think the trending Russian Lip Technique
All of this to say: Lip fillers are a very personalized product! Injecting the same amount of the same product on two different patients will look completely different. That’s why it is important to work with a licensed professional who understands the art of injecting.
Pre-treatment: What to Expect + How to Prep
Many first-timers are concerned about the pain of lip injections, and while many people describe it as uncomfortable, it truly depends on the person. Your individual pain tolerance and skin thickness, as well as the technique and numbing agent used by the injector, will determine the sensation and experience. In general, regardless of all of these factors, there will be pinching and pulling sensations that can be painful or unpleasant. The Artisan Beauté team thoroughly numbs your lips for approximately 30 minutes leading up to the injection to ensure maximum numbness.
One Week Before Your Lip Filler Appointment
- Avoid blood-thinners and over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve.
- Avoid supplements like St. John’s Wort, Gingko Biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E.
2 Days Before Your Lip Filler Appointment
- Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any “anti-aging” products.
- Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
- Do start taking Arnica two days prior to the procedure. (This is not required, but it will help to lessen bruising.)
24 Hours Before Your Lip Filler Appointment
- No alcohol (Drop that glass of wine!)
- Get excited for your new lips
Post-treatment: What to Expect + How to Prep
Don’t fret! Immediately following your lip filler appointment, expect mild to moderate swelling and some bruising around the injection site. This is totally normal and will subside in a few days. To reduce bruising and swelling, avoid alcohol and blood-thinners 24 hours before and after your treatment and apply ice in 30-minute intervals for the first two days. If bruising persists, using a topical solution like arnica gel can help.
For the first couple of days following your filler appointment, keep makeup to a minimum, and avoid using any used makeup brushes or lipsticks over your beautiful new lips to avoid contaminating the injection site.
While you don’t have to avoid smiling or drinking out of a straw, it is important to note that the first day following the injections, your filler will be malleable and moveable! Avoid excessive pressure, such as sleeping on your stomach, which can cause the product to migrate and settle unevenly.
If you have any discomfort following your appointment stick to non-blood-thinning pain relievers and keep icing!
Services that pair well with lip fillers to enhance your results include…
The trending ‘lip-flip’ has been growing in popularity over the past few years. The treatment consists of 4-8 units of botox injected above the upper lip. While this does not increase the fullness or size of your lips like fillers, the subtle effects can help relax the muscle responsible for contracting your upper lip when you smile. This treatment is very inexpensive, quick, and relatively painless, and it can help to amplify the results of your lip filler. It takes 2-3 weeks after treatment to see the full results of the lip flip, and the results will last about 3 months. A lip flip can be a good maintenance option between lip filler top-ups.
Chin and jawline filler
Often when we get a bit more lip projection with lip filler, a little bit of chin and jawline filler can go a long way to help balance the profile of the face. The result will be very subtle to the eye but creates the ideal proportions to keep your results looking natural. In your filler appointment, consult with our team to see if they would recommend 1-2 ml to help support the look of your beautiful new lips!
Your results can be as natural and subtle or exaggerated as you like! To best accomplish your desired results, bring a few inspiration photos to your appointment to demonstrate your goal. Know that, depending on your goals and your natural lips, it may take two or three visits over the course of 12-18 months to get to your dream lips. However, you will undoubtedly enjoy every step along the way!
